Why Miguel Could Be the Good Guy Here
People that follow the series “This Is Us” are starting to think that Miguel is growing on them, a statement they never thought they would ever use. However, this is what is happening as in (Season 2, Episode 11) as the person family is sitting in a circle with an addiction specialist guiding Kelvin on how to start a group dialogue. Normally, they would be holding a family get-together at Randal’s sprawling mansion or at Kate and Toby’s sweet apartment.
What leads to this therapy is a drunk Kelvin driving at a high speed with Tess at the back seat. It was possible for the writers to make that an accident with Tess gone but they somehow knew that we would not take it. Beth and Randal had just had to watch their foster daughter Deja re-unite with her biological mom and loosing Tess was not an option here.
Instead, Kevin is pulled up by a cop and when we pick back up with him, he has been in the rehab facility for three months working to reverse the damage he has done to himself and people around him.
This is why we are having the Pearson’s meeting which is a family thing meaning that Beth, Miguel and Toby are not invited. They go to a bar for the whole afternoon which Toby thinks is not right given the circumstances. During the session, the very deeply emotions of Kevin always feeling ousted by the family comes to head. Given the fact that everyone in dealing with one thing or the other, he is left to feel as a third wheel that he says lead s to him seek for the attention and admiration room the media that he never got as a youth.
Essentially, it is the basic law of attraction at play now as Kelvin has focused his whole life on nabbing that ever important piece of the spotlight propelling himself towards mass recognition that does not replace the earlier neglect. As the other three are drinking, we focus on the Miguel, that is so sweet to the Pearson’s but we cannot ignore the fact that he is married to his best friend’s wife. The Perfect Jack Pearson’s wife who nobody can compare to. Miguel knows his place which he is okay with and knows that to change it, it would require the reversal of the very fabric that weaves together the Pearson just like Kelvin. The difference is that, Kelvin will continue to unravel it until he makes amends and heal while Miguel on the other hand might just be the person to sew everything back together.
